The new ProLiant DL560 is a
groundbreaking, ultra-dense 4-way server designed for environments that
require high levels of computing power while maintaining maximum cooling
and power efficiency. The DL560 delivers enterprise class performance
based on award-winning ProLiant engineering and industry standard
technology, and its compact 2U form factor means the server uses at least
50% less rack space than most enterprise servers on the market. The server
takes advantage of Xeon Processor MP, PCI-X architecture, Wide Ultra320
SCSI capability, DDR SDRAM memory, and Gigabit networking technology to
provide the performance and scalability required for today's compute
intensive applications. In addition, ProLiant management features such as
remote administration from a standard web-browser and Insight Manager
event and configuration management significantly reduce total cost of
ownership. The ProLiant DL560 server combines maximum levels of compute
performance, system efficiencies, and manageability to today's and
tomorrow's enterprise data center. |

Space constrained data center
customers and service providers
Problems and Requirements A growing number of IT
centers are experiencing a proliferation of servers as they begin to
move toward a distributed computing model, where they centralize their
servers in a data center for security, easy accessibility, and better
management. While the workload for IT computing has increased, often the
space allotted has not.
Typical Use
- DL560 space saving design makes it an ideal platform for
multi-node, highly available ProLiant clusters.
- Using partitioning software such as the ProLiant Workload
Management Pack allows the DL560 to consolidate smaller and older
technology servers and web applications onto fewer, newer servers.
- Like other ProLiant 500 series servers, the DL560 provides an
excellent platform for transaction management, mail and messaging, or
decision processing.
Solving the Customer
Problem The DL560 allows planners to increase the processing
capabilities in a rack of their MP servers while more efficiently
utilizing existing data center infrastructure.
- Sleek 2U (3.5") form factor uses less rack space than any major
server in its class.
- General-purpose design maximizes the different locations the
server can be deployed, while common rack and rail solution with other
2U ProLiant servers' means easier deployment and quick access to the
system.
- Store the server. All necessary cabling and components in a
single, organized rack to simplify management and maintenance.
Power conscious enterprise
customers and IT shops
Problems and Requirements Faster processors, hard
drives, and memory are some of the key factors driving power and cooling
requirements in data center environments significantly higher. While the
last decade has seen a dramatic decrease in the floor and rack space
required to achieve constant computing capability, the power consumption
and heat densities have not followed suit.
Typical
Use Customers looking to maximize the power and cooling
efficiency of their data center rack space, while maintaining high
levels of performance when running back-office and enterprise business
applications. They are looking at metrics like processing power and
wattage per U. The DL560 offers maximum flexibility when providing power
to high-density data centers.
- Flexibility of high line or low line AC power provides ability to
scale capacity when planned and unplanned upgrades become necessary.
- High-density rack deployments of mission critical applications.
These servers must stay on, and thus cannot reduce power consumption
by sleeping when the system is idle.
Solving the Customer
Problem By limiting the memory footprint and drive capacity, the
DL560 is able to deliver enterprise performance with a lower thermal
load.
- Requiring just two 550-watt power supplies to run a fully loaded
and redundant system, the DL560 has the lowest power requirements of
any major server in its class.
- The DL560 can run fully configured using low-line or high-line
power sources.
- Innovative mechanical design adequately dissipates the total heat
generated quickly out of the box, delivering excellent cooling and
ventilation.
- Zoned cooling system ensures efficient ventilation to all major
components.
